{"id":1217,"date":"2020-08-24T19:44:33","date_gmt":"2020-08-24T19:44:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aurorasaurudev.wpengine.com\/?page_id=1217"},"modified":"2025-01-24T22:56:05","modified_gmt":"2025-01-24T22:56:05","slug":"social-media-policy-and-community-guidelines","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blog.aurorasaurus.org\/?page_id=1217","title":{"rendered":"Social Media Policy and Community Guidelines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our guidelines have been revised as of January 25, 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Everyone here loves the aurora and sharing it with others.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>We strive to make this community welcoming to all under these guidelines:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any posts in these categories will be removed and reported, and the poster will be blocked without warning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hate speech and personal attacks.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bots, trolls, spammers, and sockpuppet accounts.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We will also remove posts and issue a warning to the poster for the following:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Political posts: these include discussion of political figures, parties, candidates, and identifications (ie. \u201cliberals, conservatives, etc.\u201d)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Incorrect or misleading information. We recognize honest mistakes and encourage questions, but strive to uphold scientific rigor when it comes to information-sharing.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Multiple warnings will lead to the poster being blocked.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>All are welcome!<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lead with excitement; no question is too common. The way you choose to respond can cultivate the spark of curiosity, or put it out. If people haven\u2019t yet encountered auroras or participatory science, they have an amazing experience ahead of them, including becoming part of the community!\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Try not to make assumptions about people\u2019s knowledge. Participatory scientists bring a wealth of experience in all kinds of fields. Instead, try asking conversation starter questions like \u201cwhat got you interested in aurora?\u201d or \u201cwhat brings you to Aurorasaurus?\u201d to talk with them and find out more.
