While I would have loved to explain the concepts in one simple infographic, there was just too much information! I broke the material up in to several different, but related, questions. I think all of these are necessary to put together the story of color in aurora. This infographic, second in a five part series, addresses how atoms and molecules in the atmosphere get excited and what that means.
