{"id":228,"date":"2016-03-25T23:35:11","date_gmt":"2016-03-25T23:35:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aurorasaurudev.wpengine.com\/?p=228"},"modified":"2023-12-26T21:57:43","modified_gmt":"2023-12-26T21:57:43","slug":"we-want-you-to-be-an-aurorasaurus-ambassador","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.aurorasaurus.org\/?p=228","title":{"rendered":"We Want You&#8230;to be an Aurorasaurus ambassador!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Want to become more involved with Aurorasaurus?<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> We are seeking volunteer Ambassadors to promote Aurorasaurus in their local communities to groups, such as a photography or astronomy club, university department or student group interested in aurora. \u00a0We are also interested in having your input on ideas for new website features and content.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What would you do?<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> We have several ways for you to help: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spread the word about Aurorasaurus to new groups <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Educate the community on how to use Aurorasaurus and share the project\u2019s materials<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Contribute ideas for new website features, topics for science discussion, and perhaps even help out with some of analysis of aurora reports<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We will supply promotional materials and, where possible, will even arrange a guest lecture from local aurora scientists. The possibilities are endless, and we\u2019d love to hear your ideas!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Fill out <\/b><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/forms\/Bk18KfX8qk\"><b>this brief form<\/b><\/a><b> and tell us why!<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> There is room for one rep from each major geographical area. I was recently invited to Calgary to give a colloquium at the University of Calgary Physics and Astronomy Department. This was a great chance to collaborate with their researchers who are some of the world\u2019s experts in scientific \u201call sky\u201d camera observations of the aurora and have resources across Canada. It was also a fantastic chance to connect with the <\/span><\/i><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/groups\/16349661@N00\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alberta Aurora Chasers group<\/span><\/i><\/a><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in person and help to introduce the two communities&#8211; the University of Calgary researchers and the Alberta Aurora chasers&#8211; to each other. The scientists had no idea of the dedication and interest level of the Alberta aurora hunters and we hope that there can be fruitful collaborations going forward in terms of auroras, outreach, and more.
